L.E.A.D.'s Legacy League

quoteL.E.A.D.'s Legacy League is America's first instructional baseball league for inner city teens. The innovation in instructional leagues geared at this age group is found in the coaches’ ability to provide a more intensive training environment. The game’s structure requires stopping at the point of errors to allow athletes to understand and make necessary adjustments in their play. Likewise, the Legacy League is America's first instructional baseball league for inner city coaches. Through scholarships provided by L.E.A.D. sponsors, inner city coaches have the opportunity to be mentored by L.E.A.D. certified professional instructors.

L.E.A.D.'s Legacy league works to promote collaboration and leadership amongst young men in every aspect of the program. Using the legacy of the National Negro League, each team starts with a team building exercise involving their joint creation of a team logo and mission. In addition, the coaching style learned from L.E.A.D.'s founder, CJ Stewart, engages each player in post practice caucuses where the young men are encouraged to provide vital feedback and suggestions for future planning and improvements.

Why A Legacy League

Across the country, college scouts use fall leagues as the perfect opportunity to review players for college based programs and the inherent scholarships. Nevertheless in Metro Atlanta there are currently no organized fall leagues at any urban public high school. What appears to be a simple omission results in student athletes, requiring athletic scholarship for an education, falling outside of the opportunity through no fault of their own. In addition, the specialized training that is considered standard in baseball, is outside of the financial possibilities for many inner city families.

Legacy League 2010!

The inaugural 2009 Legacy League season was a huge success! This program gives up to 30 student athletes the opportunity to receive professional baseball development in the fall, serve in their communities and approach their studies with a renewed commmittment to success. Selected students will also get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot for the 2011 L.E.A.D. Ambassadors Summer College Exposure Team. For tryout information, join L.E.A.D.'s official social networking site at www.legacyleague.com.
