Ambassador Ally

If your family is interested in partnering with L.E.A.D. in a more intimate way, then becoming an Ambassador Ally is the decision you need to make. Ambassador Allies partner with L.E.A.D. and its families to strengthen the network of support for our Ambassadors. If your family is interested in partnering with us in this way, please contact Kelli Stewart (kelli.stewart@lead2legacy.org) for more information.

Volunteers

Volunteers are an important part of one of the most profound components of our programming: Encouragement. Through our Encourage2Empower initiative, we ask that before you get involved in any of our programs, that you first come and experience one of our events. It can be our annual L.E.A.D. Weekend gala or one of our baseball games at Washington High School. If you’re interested in providing our young men with some encouragement, send an email to volunteer@lead2legacy.org to get started.

In-Kind Donations

In-kind Donations are a great way to give as well. L.E.A.D. is currently accepting the following in-kind donations: uniforms (new), equipment (gently used or new), digital media services (web, photography, video, etc.), administrative services (e.g., auditing), marketing/PR services sponsorship (sponsor an event, program or a player).

Stock Shares

Giving stock, instead of cash, as a donation can greatly benefit both parties. You will find that most charities, hospitals, schools and other nonprofit organizations will accept stock as a gift or donation.

If the stock has increased in value from the time of purchase, the owner can avoid paying the capital gains tax by donating the security to another party. When the security is being donated to a charitable organization, the total amount will still be eligible for a tax deduction. Since taxation is avoided on the stock donation, the giver will be able to make a larger donation.

For example, let’s say you were looking to make a $1,000 donation to a charity. You could either give cash or donate stock. Let’s assume that the you bought stock for a original purchase price of $700, but it is now worth $1,128.55. To make it simple, let’s assume capital gains tax is 30% of the stock’s appreciation. Selling the shares for cash would net about $1,000 after capital gains tax (1,128.55 – (1,128.55 – 700)*0.30). In this case, you should be indifferent between donating the entire stock or giving cash, as both choices will cost you $1,000. However, the charity can receive more benefit from a stock donation, as they will receive a gift valued at $1,128.55, instead of the $1,000 in cash. Everyone’s financial situation is different, so please consult your tax professional for more information. To donate to L.E.A.D. via stock shares, please email Kelli Stewart on how to process your transaction. kelli.stewart@lead2legacy.org
